They've never made a music video, and until 2004, they hadn't played together in more than 30 years. In July 2005, though, members of the 1970s power pop band, Raspberries, were invited with open arms (and a few beers) to tape a performance and interview at one of cable television's hippest music channels, VH1 Classic. "We're just going to play until they throw us out," singer Eric Carmen said with a grin.
On July 22, 2005, Eric, Wally, Dave, Jim and the Overdubs spent the afternoon at VH1 filming a segment for VH1 Classic's "Hangin' With" series. The band was interviewed and performed a few choice songs live in the studio for broadcast including "I Wanna Be With You," "Overnight Sensation," "Last Dance," "Should I Wait" and "Nobody Knows." They sounded SPECTACULAR and the interview segment was quite entertaining.
Only one tune made the actual broadcast—the live and "unplugged" slow ballad version of "I Wanna Be With You." If you missed it or just want to relive it, stick with ETV—it's here in all of its glory. Enjoy!
