In 1973, Bill Bixby (best known for starring in television hits My Favorite Martian and The Courtship of Eddie's Father) starred in the dramatic series The Magician playing Anthony Blake, a professional illusionist who took time from his performing career to help solve crimes. Skilled in the art of magic, Bill Bixby performed all the illusions on the series without benefit of camera tricks. During the run of The Magician, Bill Bixby hosted and performed in Magic Man, an NBC TV special that aired on November 22, 1973 (Thanksgiving Day).
The clip opens with Bixby looking into a crystal ball. He sees "Raspberries," and we cut to the band as they play the last chorus of their hit "Go All The Way." Eric then steps to his left and Wally moves over to center stage. Raspberries then perform "Last Dance."
It's always great to see Wally get the spotlight. He was so charasmatic on stage, and this performance is no exception. Try not to smile as you watch him sing "Last Dance." I dare you. Pay special attenton to Wally after the band finishes the song. As he grins broadly while chewing his ever-present gum you get the impresion that Mr. Bryson feels he did a good job. After you watch this rare video treat, I'm sure you'll agree that he did.
